Cultural Appropriation has been a very controversial problem that has been occurring for decades. Though this situation has been getting more recognition throughout the years.
Cultural Appropriation☆
How do we know what is and what’s not cultural appropriation?

| Appropriation is simply just taking an aspect from another culture that’s not yours and using it personally. | Appreciation is when somebody wants to learn about a certain culture in an effort to broaden their perspective and connect with others cross- culturally. |
Do people from the other culture endure negative experiences that people
from your culture have not?
Taking something from a culture and using it for personal reasons definitely creates a negative effect, since people try their best to preserve their culture not for it to be made fun of or used in a situation that doesn’t involve culture in the first place
What is cultural appropriation?
the adoption of an element or
elements of one culture or
identity by members of another
culture or identity.
What are the examples of cultural appropriation?
using cultural clothing to a
party as a ‘costume’ such as
wearing a sombrero as part of
a 'mexican costume'
you can see Jihyo wearing native american clothing as a 'halloween costume' but she obviously wasnt aware
Why do we need to be aware of cultural appropriation
-It continues the oppression of
the non-dominant culture
-Doesn’t give credit on peoples
own culture
